A Review of Malunggay Medical Evidence on Nutritional, Therapeutic and Prophylactic Properties
Malunggay or Moringa oleifera, is a pan-tropical species. Over the past two decades, many reports have come out in mainstream scientific journals articulating its nutritional and medicinal properties.
There is a study conducted by Dr. Jed W. Fahey, from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. It was also reviewed by his peers and colleagues.
In his study, he presented these essential benefits from Moringa; where Malungai Life Oil comes from.
First, he stated that Moringa has the nutritional qualities existing in both scientific and popular literature. In his study, he recognizes essential vitamins such as vitamin A, calcium, vitamin C, potassium, and protein.
Second, he also found out that Moringa can help to treat disease and for prevention as well. Though he encourages his colleagues to further review the study.
However, he mentioned that in many cases, through cultured cells and animal trials do provide a degree of mechanistic support for some of the claims.
Third, Dr. Fahey mentioned that there is a clear prevalence of evidence of antibiotic activity in Moringa. This is both on classical scientific and extensive anecdotal evidence.
Lastly, it is also expressed in the study that Moringa is a good supplement for cancer prevention. There are various experiments have to be done; though there is still a need for further rigorous study in order to achieve a level of proof required. This is to achieve the full biomedical endorsement of moringa as cancer preventative plant.
In spite of all these facts, Malungai Life Oil still not claiming of any therapeutic claims. Thus, it is a food supplement and is not for medical use.
